
Go Martin Go is a fun little game created by Schpass Games as part of their 12 Months, 12 Games Challenge.
When making the music for the game, I used an open source synth VST called Helm to produce the different instruments. I had a lot of fun with it, utilising tremolo, stuttering and filters to create the piece of music.

Towards the end there is not one, but two(!) modulations to create tension and increase the excitement the player will feel as they reach the end.
The sound effects were created using a mixture of 16-bit VST Koji and more work with Helm. My personal favourite sound effect is the one that plays when you hit a fisherman as I was able to manipulate the synth into sounding like a yelping voice, followed by a hit of noise that sounds like a splash into the water below.
